The 100 “Bodyguard of Lies” Photo Recap- The Ships That Go Sailin’ (2.14)

Don’t worry you guys, I’ve put in a call to the authorities. Clearly the writers and producers of The 100 have bugged our phones and computers and minds in order to give us all exactly what we want. I’m sorry to have to do this because I respect everyone working on this show so much, but you’re not even trying to hide the fact that you’ve hired a talented psychic to read our minds and deepest of desires. The fuzz said they’d get right on it, so expect a visit. Or a pizza. It may have been a pizza place that I called. Either way, I think you’re getting what you deserve (I hope you like extra cheese).

For one thing, the WAR STARTED. And Bellamy BLEW UP THE FOG MACHINE like it was as inconsequential as a prop on the set of Grease 2.

Oh, and all the ships are sailing. All of them. Imagine the best pairing on this show, and then dance a happy jig because it is HAPPENING. One of my favourites is Bellamy and Maya’s Hot Dad. ALSO, let me draw your attention to the beautiful words that flowed like starlight out of Wick’s mouth: “how’s my boy Monty doing?” WHAT IS EVEN HAPPENING IT’S TOO MUCH MY MIND AND SOUL AND BODY CAN’T TAKE IT. I will be thinking about this line for the entire week.

Why don’t we just dive right in to my new favorite character on any show that has ever, or will ever, exist:

And then he blew up. 

Baaaahahahahahahha THIS SHOW.

If Finn ever gets his Ghost Detective spin-off, this guy HAS to be his zany sidekick. I have never fallen in love as instantly as I have with this man. I want this fictional character to manifest himself in reality and take me out for ice cream, or to a carnival. I’m fairly certain I will mourn his death until my last heartbeat. The greatest travesty, however, is his unfinished joke. I need to know the punchline more than I’ve ever needed anything, and that includes food and water. SOMEONE finish this joke:

An Arker, a Grounder and a Mountain Man walk into a bar.

Arker says, “I’ll take some moonshine.” Grounder says, “I’ll take some too.”

And the Mountain Man, he says…

Back at Mountain Manor, life went on as if the greatest tragedy in the fictional universe hadn’t just occurred, and the Mountain Prince was peeved that he didn’t know where The 19 are.

This guy was very hurt. Look at his face. He’s dying inside. Anyway, they were like, “what’s with the army?” and the computer was like, “I dunno,” and they were like, “Fog?” and Acid Fog was all, “what’s up?”, and they were like, “just making sure you’re still cool.” and Fog was like, “why wouldn’t I be cool?” and they all stood around awkwardly.

Meanwhile, a lady with suspiciously radiant hair was totally stressing.

The gist of this scene is that Bellamy completes Clarke or something, and Lexa wasn’t exactly pleased. Oh, and Clarke was born to lead. So, yeah.

Speaking of our hero, he had finally been sussed out by the Mountain Minions. Quick question, did no one miss Lovejoy? He has a kid, right? It’s been at least a couple of days since Bellamy has been waltzing around with his key-card and name-tag, and no one was like, “hey, who’s that handsome dude I’ve never seen before even though there’s approximately fifteen people in our society?”

Okay, I’m going to say it, both parties are being very rude. That being said, Bellamy handled this situation like a boss and I’m glad his stupid hat fell off.

Then the greatest thing happened:

Wick! It’s Wick, you guys! Where have you been, Wick? Were you scrounging for parts for a week and a half? Did you secretly meet Frederick the mutant? Do you two have a poker game going with the two-headed deer and the glowing butterflies? Anyway, he was “summoned” by a foxy badass to help solve the acid fog issue. Welcome!

Speaking of awesome badass characters, Octavia ain’t no fool.

Octavia, like the brave, smart, wonderful little warrior-vixen she is, figured out that Clarke and Lexa knew about the missile. This put her in Lexa’s murder cross-hairs, which bumped the episode from “pretty great” to “holy shit!”

Back at the Manor, Bellamy just couldn’t stay away from Maya’s hot Dad.

Just a couple of handsome dudes going over maps, coming up with plans and exchanging friendship-torches.

Octavia, meanwhile, was put “on watch”.

But nope! Clarke was like, “thanks but no thanks”, to having Octavia killed. This got to me, you guys. Octavia remains super pissed at Clarke and she doesn’t know that she saved her life! Oh man, girls, ammiright??

Elsewhere, a group of dudes where relaxing.

Jaha is cradling this stick like a newborn child. What’s that about? Quick question: did some of this merry band turn back, or has Jaha essentially murdered eight people?

Anyway, the “City of Lights” started glowing and the Beautiful Creepster got very pumped that the one and only person who has ever treated him like a human being wasn’t lying to him.

Clarke confronted Lexa about the attempted murder, and they ended up calmly discussing the merits of feelings.

Clarke was all, “don’t kill Octavia”, and Lexa basically said, “if I did, though, would we still be cool?” Just an overall great scene that showed how much these two have grown. Clarke is pushing Lexa to show her feelings (swoon), and Lexa is forcing Clarke to choose what kind of leader she wants to be. I think we can say farewell to Dark Clarke for the time being, because this girl loves to feel things.

Jaha used his stick to suss out the mines, while at the same time giving the boys an impromptu dance lesson.

The way they followed the path was hilarious to me. WHY do they look like they’re balancing so precariously? Just take a step and plant, boys!

This fellow ran away and Jaha saved him just in time, which means they all now trust him completely and my gag reflex went into overdrive. They ran up the sand hill like the characters from Honey I Shrunk the Kids running to the giant oreo. But then…

BAAAAAAAA HAHAHAHHA this made me so happy, and I honestly wish the story had ended there. Yes, I want to see the City of Lights, but having Jaha be totally wrong would be worth it to me.

Meanwhile at the manor, Bellamy made his way to the giant acid fog machine and used his lifeline to phone a friend.

Wick and Raven spoke to Bellamy like he was a dumb person, but it was kind of adorable? Then they nerd-magiced their way to a solution!

Then Lexa asked Clarke to come over so they could make out UP.

This moment was awesome, and not just because there was an extended kiss between two females on network television. And not just because it seems that in the future, labels are meaningless, and the idea that a person could fall in love with either sex is accepted (based on Clarke’s reaction). And NOT just because these two characters bring me such joy any time they interact, romantically or no. It was mainly awesome because I’m fairly certain I heard a wave of cries throughout the land, both elated and outraged. It doesn’t matter what shipper deck you’re standing on, you have to admit, any show that can elicit this much passion from its viewers is doing everything right. Simply everything.

Oh, also, the flare went off. Time to war!

At this point Raven and wick did it. And that’s all I’m going to say. I STARTED to take screen grabs, then realized how absolutely creepy that is. I’d rather not be a creep-o adult woman taking pictures of teens going at it. It was a great scene! Moving on.

Bellamy was basking in his glory, but then…

Oh no! The fog machine was NOT off! Turns out the Mountain Prince was listening to Bellamy’s call the whole time, and only made it SEEM like he’d won the game. How very rude!

The guards busted in and chased Bellamy into the air duct, where he started double-barrel shooting like he’s Bruce Willis in any movie ever.

Despite Bellamy’s grade A badassery, it still seemed as though everyone was going to die. I realize it’s improbable that everyone on the show would die. I mean… that’s absurd. AND YET, I was clenching my fists and exclaiming unladylike things at my television because this was all so damn tense!

Bellamy used his friendship-torch to blow up the fog machine, and he almost burned to death, but he didn’t, and this moment was so gosh darn amazing that I actually applauded.

His look of panic was perfect. Well done, AJ. The Mountain Men have no more defenses. The war is ON, people! I can’t say enough how excited I am about that. (Fictional war, of course. NOT excited about any sort of real wars. Let’s just forget about those altogether, yes?)

Indra also knows about Clarke and Lexa’s knowledge of the missile, and she just doesn’t give an eff. She basically told Octavia to suck it up. I love her so much, you guys. Please don’t die. Indra. For me?

Jaha’s dance class (why is he the only adult?), got a little more rhythm when they found a drone that flew off across the ocean. Naturally, he found a boat, hopped on and followed it.

I don’t even have the energy to make fun of Jaha anymore, you guys. Who knows, maybe I’m being too harsh. Maybe I just don’t have enough “faith”. Maybe his crazy-eyes remind me of a doll I once had who came to life and killed my pets. I just don’t like him, and I’m not sure what he could do to change that. I am, however, on board for this City of Lights, and all the possibilities it has.

Speaking of possibilities, who’s pumped for next week’s episode?? The war has started! Shit is about to get very real and I am READY.

Once again, The 100 has exceeded expectations and delivered an hour of sexy, violent, surprising adventure. High fives to everyone involved, and a few low fives to those of you whose arms are too sore from pumping your fists in triumph.

  • Finn’s name was never spoken in this episode, but his presence was still felt in a subtle, yet strong way. Clarke isn’t ready to be with Lexa because she had to stab her boyfriend, what, a week ago? And even though he and Raven weren’t together when he died, I’m sure Finn is a large part of the conflict going on inside of her about Wick. Look, I guess what I’m saying is that on this show, everything has a consequence, and the characters are still feeling the effects of his death even if it’s not overtly pointed out. I LIKE IT, OKAY?

    I’m rewatching, and of course rereading all your awesome recaps, in prep for the season premier next week, and I forgot just great these are! It’s crazy, but as amazing as The 100 is, your recaps make it just so much better. I’m not sure if I could handle binging all the death and tragedy without your hilarious recaps. THANK YOU!
    I especially love all the personality quarks that the characters have in your head. Just brilliant!
    That said, one thing about this episode that gets me every time is that when Jaha and his band of merry men see the water after not having anything to drink in the desert for days (???), they don’t even test the water! I’m guessing that this is supposed to be the ocean, so not drinkable, but unless they all aced earth skills up in space, I would assume that at least one of them would have fallen on it, you know, like someone who hasn’t had a drink of water in days in the desert…

    Oh man I may have flicked back and re-watched (twice) that Clarke and Lexa kiss. I really didn’t think they would actually follow through but I’m delighted that they did. My love for this show and the delight it can extract from me clearly knows no bounds.

    Clarke has had military training – shes got great aim and she snuck up on a grounder assassin. they’re getting too close to jumping the shark here – ok i love Clarke more than anyone on this planet (so back off peeps) but i like my heroes to be human.
    im liking the commander and Clarke’s developing relationship juxtaposed with raven and wicks.
    Octavia is just awesome. i live for her scenes. i’m proud of my girl becoming Indra’s second, you could almost see the day Octavia leads her own clan 🙂
    visually stunning episode – the costumes are amazing
    Octavia needs a new jacket as the 80’s want hers back
    this week i really felt the theme of noble savage – with the Grounders coming out on top as far as the most enlightened of all three groups. Abbey & Marcus spell it out for the audience when they’re trapped; Clarke is the product of a ruthless society. The Mountain Men were heaped into the same category when the civilians of Mt Weather hide the children – a scene with two purposes – to draw a parallel with the draconian measures on the Ark and to introduce a new group of victims – innocent civilians of Mt Weather who now face death.
    Jaha – what to say about this story arc – pls stop. ?!
    After such a cinematic treat the set mistakes here are obvious. at the end Jaha is standing on river stones, by a lake, surrounded bu desert, & trees are visible in the waters reflection… why????
    I am left wondering what the Sky people are offering to the war in terms of resources… overall, another awesome episode.

    Goddamit! I hated Finn for being a hoe but he was a good guy outside of that and up until an episode or two before he actually died I did want him to die so bad and then when it actually happened I’m not going to lie I was balling! While I like to poke fun at him for being a hoe I still miss him a bit, especially after Raven slept with Wick and you could just see the inner conflict on her face and then the episode before last when Clarke killed the shooter and Lexa asked if she was better and she was like “No nigga.” – Direct quote.

    yeah Finn was kind of like a little hopeful beacon (in terms of the morality of war). Well before he went on the slaughter spree. But thinking back on his actions in S1, he wanted everything we hope for now: Peace with the grounders, talk before action, figuring shit out before getting trigger happy.
    The guy just wasn’t made for this world. Still, ‘So Finn finally got his peace talks’ BAM, talk about a punch to the gut. I hated him initially because of the stupid romance plotlines but, dude just wanted to make origami necklaces and watch everyone get along. He was simply forced to step up and take charge (sorta) because the majority of the 100 were irresponsible shits.

    Murphy has become a priceless gold! First there was a “touch me again and I’ll end you… in a non criminal way” and now there was “I will take Jaha’s staff and beat you to death with it” I love how he says it in all seriousness.
    When Jaha said “I flew down from space” Wick’s line immediately crossed my mind: “we fell from space in a football stadium…” I don’t know why.
    I laughed when Octavia joined the war cry, because Indra was so badass and Octavia just looked derpy after her. well she’s still her apprentice I hope Indra will teach her a decent war cry (now that’s even funny imagining how Indra trains Octavia in screaming).
    too bad the 44 were left out in this episode I miss them already

    I love these! Sadly only two more of your recaps this season (sniffle). I usually do my commenting on Kaitling’s review, but thinking of all your great Jaha jests made me think about his journey from sane, well adjusted, pragmatic Chancellor on the Ark to his current cray-cray search for redemption. I liked Jaha lots more before his dead son appeared to him and said he wasn’t done.
    Could the oxygen deprivation he suffered on the Ark cause delusional wanderings?

    Hmm, well I can’t think of a good punch line, but most of that guys jokes kind of sucked, so I’ll go with a shitty one: “…and the Mountain Man, says “I’ll have some too” and then he starts rubbing on sunblock. The Grounder asks, “what the hell are you doing?” and the Mountain Man says, “I don’t wanna get burned!” -get it!? Because Mountain Men are pale!!??

    I’m only worried that the farther Murphy gets from the main story line, that he’ll stay in the City of Light and we’ll never hear from him again (Please no, my heart) or that he’ll die. I want them to find the City or whatever and hightail it back to Camp Jaha to tell the others.

    I am really excited that the the show is embracing an expanded definition definition of sexuality. Long overdue on TV in general. I like Lexa a lot. I think Clarke has learned a lot from Lexa (even even if it’s just learning what what she DOESN’T to do as leader). Maybe Lexa has opened opened Clarke’s eyes sexually. I mean, Clarke was definitely a participant in that kiss. I think Clarke’s reaction (not ready to be with anyone yet) was a wise and realistic one.
    Here’s my issue with Clexa:
    Clarke: you just mercy-killed the man you love the other day (not that I was a fan of Flarke). You’re still in mourning – glad you recognize that. I’d like you to consider that Lexa is the one who essentially saw to it that you HAD to perform said mercy-kill. I don’t think Lexa premeditated Finn’s death to get into Clarke’s pants. I also don’t think think she’s trying to manipulate Clarke. I just think that circumstances make a relationship between them a bad idea.
    Clarke’s relationship with Finn was already on shaky ground. The guy broke her heart, lied to her, made her the “other woman.” She hadn’t exactly forgiven him yet, then he goes a little bat-shit crazy and kills a bunch of people in a rage haze (he was a bit unstable toward the end). A woman with normal life responsibilities (like not commanding an army) would need more than a week to work through that, and mercy-kills aren’t generally par-for-the-course in breakups.
    Going from that shit-show of a relationship into one with Lexa would be a bad move. It would be a rebound, which diminishes the relationship anyway (though I still think it would be a bad idea – see above). Let’s NOT make the show’s first gay relationship a terrible one!
    Given that Alicia Debnam-Carey is attached to the new Walking Dead spin-off, my guess would be that Clexa won’t come to fruition.
    I like Bellamy-Clarke. I have for a long time. I was hoping Flarke wouldn’t be revisited at all this season, but it was a plot device. I want Bellamy and Clarke in it for the long-haul. Finn was Bellamy’s friend, too. Which means they should respect the mourning period – we won’t see Bellarke this season.

    Great points. I don’t mind if Clexa fizzles Bc I don’t want Bellamy to be a rebound. I have always thought theirs was a slow burn. Bellarke I mean. And I love that. I want my heart to break bc there is love, passion, lust and respect bw them but circumstances keep them from taking that next step. Responsibility, fear of losing their partnership (bc they NEED that, they prop eachother up), there are so many things about the harshness of their lives that makes romance a risk. I want their scenes to become palpable. A year from now I want to yell at Jason Rothenberg for giving me just that. Ya know? I am a sucker for romance and I already bought my tickets for that ship. Who do you think will be the first to realize, I mean really know and declare (even if it’s just to the sky in frustration), that they are in love; Bellamy or Clarke? I wonder how Bellamy would react to Clexa? I am soooo looking forward to where this show will go in (hopefully) the next several seasons.

    I think that it’s definitely going to be Bellamy first; I’m already getting the impression that he’s starting to fall for her and knows it. With Clarke, she’s too obvious about how much she cares for him, she hasn’t yet realised what’s happening otherwise she would want to control it to keep her working relationship with him so they can continue to keep their people safe.

    I laughed so hard at this. i love Indra. I love how #TeamLexa she is and I love how she all about that grounder life hahaha.
    Oh god this episode was amazing. I cheered when Bell blew up the acid (that was incredibly tense) I do adore my leading man haha. I loved Octavia and Clarke’s whole thing. Octavia being headstrong and Clarke going back to her I’m-gonna-keep-everyone-alive roots. Don’t ever stop, girls. And CLEXA. OH MY GOD. OH MY GOD??? I WANTED IT AND THEY ACTUALLY GAVE IT TO US?? The 100 just bloody spoils me lmao what did I do to deserve these treasures. All these characters are just precious nuggets I hope nobody dies next ep. Except Jaha maybe. What if Jaha dies and Murphy ends up being the cool sage-y guy who leads everyone to salvation? Yum.

    That would be cool if Murphy got to take over for Jaha. but I’m more thinking they are planning on killing off Indra. Sadly, I think she will eventually have to die, because she is making Octavia her “second” so Octavia will have to take over when Indra dies. That means Ocky ( is that a good nickname? I think so, because that’s what Spiderman sometimes calls Dr. Octopus in comics) Ocky will be in charge of an entire Grounder community, which would be a first for a “Sky Person”- Also think about it, she said she was “done” with Clarke, so it’s possible she will want to do this to separate herself from the Arkers. Though, technically Lexa screwed her over just as much as Clarke, but Clarke was supposed to be her friend, so it hurt her more.

    Not to mention her experience of Arkers was: She lived under the floor/was confined to an apartment for most of her life and then got found out, thrown in jail where her only socialisation came in the form of juvenile delinquents. With a death sentence hanging over her at 18 for the crime of being alive.
    Someone that confined and considered a mistake that wasn’t supposed to exist by her own people must love finally belonging somewhere (with the grounders) where she knows she’ll be accepted if she proves herself.

    toni. i hate to be the one to break it to ya, but i am absolutely certain that no one but you is shipping mayas dad and bellamy XD also city of bullshit bwahahahaha!! i was kinda hoping that was the end of that story arc too just because it would have been super logical for there not be some mystical city and jaha to be totally of his rocker. also the clexa kiss. i honestly thought that i was kinda projecting the romance vibes onto them just because they had so much chemistry lol. i love that indra basically just shrugged and said “it be like that sometimes” never change indra. never change.

    also i was pretty terrified at least three times this episode a central character was gonna die. i usually comfort myself with the fact that if its not a season finale they’ll be ok and if they’re not in the top three characters they’ll be ok, but with the 100 you really never know.

      Happy as I was about the Clarke/ Lexa thing, and as much as I want to commend the show for going there, I must say I am severely PISSED at the CW for RUINING the moment!! They showed a promo during Arrow, that SHOWED THE KISS!!! If they are gonna do stuff like that put SPOILER ALERT before the damn ad!!

      Also, I have to reprimand the network for airing the IZombie commercial exactly nine hundred and seventy five gazillion times a night. That show isn’t even on yet and I am sick of it already. But otherwise CW, your doing a bang up job! Keep up the good work!!

      Well said about spoiler promos! As for running promos into the ground, it’s what The CW does. On streaming, at least, they used to run the same promo for Arrow 4 or 5 times, during Arrow! I got so tired of “save my city!”… Ugh. (And then followed by the exact same style of promo but changed slightly to promote The Tomorrow People. Double-ugh!)

      yeah, and double bad, I have a friend who got into Arrow recently, but he watches shows on some streaming service because he doesn’t have TV, and when his streaming thing doesn’t work, he watches it on CW.com , but he told me CW.com runs promos for the NEXT weeks episode of Arrow BEFORE they show the current weeks one!! He already had the whole Oliver going back to the island and seeing Slade plot revealed before he watched the episode that ends with that!!

      I. Know. I know. I knoooow!!! Everything. Just everything. Everything you said, I agree. This episode was beyond amazing. Jaha’s stick was useful even. (Don’t know why he took the boat, isn’t he supposed to be able to part bodies of water?) I was ready to follow Indra into battle. Woman has got a war cry. And presence, she has oodles of presence. Just. Writers. (Slow clap) well done. I mean yeah. You even have my husband hooked. I made him watch the 1st season on Netflix to catch up. He works out of state and can’t watch the new episodes the night they air, he watches them the next day on Hulu. He kept texting me while we were working on my son’s project, Bc he had to exclaim about so many parts from yesterday’s episode. He just had to tell somebody. All my responses were: IKR!! And Toni, fan-tab-ulous as always.

      Lexa was GAZING INTO A MIRROR FFS! A Mirror!

      This seemed to insinuate the young woman in battle hardened veteran does harbor a tiny vanity streak. It’s almost as though she were contemplating her attractiveness and/or whether she was physically attractive to Clarke.

      Yeah. I might be reaching for straws on this one here. lol!

      But can someone confirm or deny if that was actually a mirror shard? Or just a piece of parchment?

      Since no one has explicitly articulated this, then I’ll say it:

      JASON ROTHENBERG IS THE NATURAL FIRST BORN OF MURPHY’S LAW AND BAD KARMA.

      This ep was clearly the halcyon before the the writer’s hell spawned hurricane/tornado/waterspout destroys what’s left of humanity (aka the 1/12 tree ppl grounder tribe + Mt. Men tribe + Sky ppl tribe) in the Pacific NW.

      Who says the acid fog has been completely disabled aka 100% sabotaged? Or that the Mtn. King pro temp doesn’t have another ace he can cobble together up his sleeve? Because being the impregnable fortress it is, I find it really hard to believe that all Mt Weather had by line of defenses was ONE anorexic looking Tomahawk missile, some mutated grounder reapers, and some skin eating chemical fog??? Didn’t Cage AND Jason R mention they had a more powerful variant of the acid fog (i.e. the chemical flesh melting fog last week??) Jason R. even said the Mtn men would be targeting the Sky ppl in the final war in a recent interview. Yet none of that happened in this ep….

      Which leads me to another stimulating hemorroid: NO ONE OF IMPORTANCE DIED IN THIS EP. aka Clarke, Lexa, Raven, Bellamy, Jasper and to an extent Monty. This means next ep, at least ONE minor character AKA LEXA will have to die.

      My prediction: Now that Clarke knows Lexa sees her as potential jail bait wife/spouse material (isn’t Lexa at least 8-10 yrs older than Clarke on the show btw?), then Lexa will become even more protective of Clarke. This will end up making her very vulnerable if she follows her feelings against her natural stoic mindset (which is what has made her such a successful commander and leader so far). And given the mortal peril which both of them now face, it’s quite likely Lexa could let her emotions cloud her judgement should Clarke be exposed to mortal danger in the heat of battle. Now that she’s finally admitted to herself that she can trust Clarke, she may give into Clarke’s pressuring to be less Machiavellian in her leadership style. And the moment she does so, she’ll become emotionally and physically vulnerable in the heat of battle. Should this occur in the midst of combat (where a newly rejuvenated moral centered Clarke will likely be in mortal peril), then this is where the writers would seize the opportunity to kill off Lexa…..

      And when they do, I will weep like a hapless newborn infant. And probably swear off watching the final ep. Until 24 hrs after the final ep airs anyways. Because like I said, they gave us all a BIG pass on the ships with this ep this time around. The ships were very refreshing. But your gut just keeps telling you it’s building to a great catastrophe at the very end. So the 100 character Killing Fields are long overdue IMO.

      I’ll say it again: at least one main– or more likely recurring– char will have to die next week to satisfy the writers and JR’s PMS blood lust. And based on the wonderful ship I witnessed in this ep, it’s most likely 99.999% going to be Lexa

      According to The 100 Wiki, Clarke is 18 and Lexa is estimated to be 16-18, so kind of the reverse, though at such close ages there’s really no worry of “jail” in most cultures. In many, the “age of consent” by law is 16 or 17.

      Kay, A few questions.

      1. Did anyone else notice that straight up sinister side eye Lexa gave Clarke when they walked outside the tent after the kiss? Maybe she’s playing on Clarke’s feelings. Maybe this whole “you just need to break down my walls” vibe is all just an act. Is there some backstabbing in the near future?

      2. Do Maya’s father and crew know that they are all about to be annihilated? Are they aware that when the grounder break in they’re gonna start killing everyone pretty indiscriminately? Or is there a plan of some sort? Won’t they die from the radiation one way or another? Will the rest of the “sky people” willingly donate their bone marrow so the non-psychotic Weathermen can live with them on the ground?

      Why would she need to do that? What purpose would that serve? That is something I would expect of Anya (who was an incredibly sly and violent leader) back in S1. Or of Indra who shoots first and asks questions later unless you can prove yourself to her before she separtes your head from your body. Or of the other supporting grounder generals like that belligerent, hothead @$$hat who tried to murder Clarke several eps back. But not Lexa.

      Lexa has consistently proven that she is a unique grounder commander in that she actually THINKS and DELIBERATES before she ACTS. And when she does act, it’s very decisively. Before she met and got to know Clarke, this was usually in a Machiaveillian way in true Grounder style. But now that she’s spent so much with Clarke (a growing love interest) —and had the opportunity to observe the Sky ppl for a good several weeks now in close quarters—Lexa’s dictatorial style of leadership through fear has been definitely tempered by Clarke’s own more humanitarian approach.

      Also don’t forget how she ingeniously made first contact with the Sky ppl (rather than try to annhilate them up front) by watching how Jaha and Kane reacted under stress last season. That shows an incredible level of maturity, emotional restraint, and diplomatic way of thinking. She argued her male bodyguards/lieutenants down and put herself in potential danger by posing as a captive. So her restraint from the traditional blood thirsty leader is really a historic first from a grounder history perspective. Even the Mtn man Clarke released back to Mt Weather admitted that to Cage.

      So I think you’re reading too much into that. Better you consider that furtive, sidelong glance she gave Clarke in that final scene where they’re on the march into the woods. Then Clarke gave her an extremely meaningful glance back.

      That exactly when Lexa SMILED at Clarke–YES. LEXA ACTUALLY SMILED FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME in the entire season!

      IMO that brief non verbal exchange at the very end of the ep was her telling Clarke that she now trusted her judgement. Since it seemed that had Clarke (inadvertently) delivered on her promise using Bellamy to disable the acid/chemical fog

      I for one agree with you Missaliss16. I see several scenarios: 1. Lexa is playing Clarke 2. Clarke is playing Lexa 3. Lexa fears her feelings and lashes out 4. Grounders kill Lexa for being soft; I believe it is 1. with a slight twist that she actually does have feeling for her despite her betrayal. She successfully axed the other tribal leaders and needs the sky people a little be longer.

      I thought so too. I actually think it was good for the whole Lexa-has-a-crush angle because she wouldn’t be fixating on Bell so much if she didn’t see him as a romantic rival, or at least, was trying to figure out where Clarke stands with him.
      I did like that Clark acknowledged how important Bell is tho’, I’m all about that Clexa but I do miss season 1’s co-leader adventure squadding

      I loved this episode! So HAWT in every way!

      I was really worried about Bellamy when he was in the fire tunnel, so glad he made it out with only minor smoke inhalation. I am looking forward to seeing how he manages to save all of those mountain children and the rebel network.

      TBH, I have been a Bellarke shipper since day one. I mean we all know they’ll sail eventually, right? That said, I LOVED to see Lexa and Clarke kiss! Clarke was totally into it… until she remembered Finn.

      As a bisexual woman, I am very happy that the writers have given Clarke this added dimension. We all know Bellamy likes three-ways, maybe he’ll join the Clexa ship! #Team Clexamy

      Since Clexa is too good to be true I predict that Lexa will be mortally wounded in the season 2 finale and she will die in Clarke’s arms (but not before their second / last kiss). And then Clarke will follow the tradition (remember guys Lexa and Anya were a thing) of replacing a female partner as the commander of Grounders.

      Bellamy you should either get a haircut or shave your head. You can’t be John McClane with the current hairdo.

      Octavia grew a pair of basketball size ovaries and told Clarke off. And she’s officially a Grounder now. That was so beautiful 🙂

      I said it on the other review and I’ll say it again here. …. I love, love, love Clarke saving Octavia and standing up to Lexa but not actually letting Octavia know. Then she makes a half arsed attempt at sending her to a safer position knowing fine well she won’t go and let’s her throw some serious attitude her way.

      I think it backs up what Clarke said to Lexa about not wanting to be a leader she just wants to keep everyone alive. She doesn’t care whether they appreciate it or not she’s doing it anyway.

      Didn’t Abby say something like that to Clarke in the very first episode? How her first instinct would be to save everyone else? Pretty sure she also told her to ignore that instinct and look after herself first. What do you know, Abby? Nothing! That’s what!

      p.s. I hope a mutant whale swallow up Jaha’s boat real quick.

      Me too. More so Lexa, because I think if Clarke goes in there and Bellamy is all like “Wait, some of these guys are cool.”, then together they’ll find a way to save the not-evil mountain men. But Lexa and the other grounders are more of the “kill now, ask questions later” type.

      Speaking of grounders, phase 2 of Bellamy’s mission is to free the grounders from their cages, right? I was surprised there was no mention of that this week.

      On the other hand, the Mountain Men in there have been living like parasits off the Grounders for 90+ years. So even though those rebel Mountain Men are helping, they carry part of the guilt and responsibility of the capture/torture/murder of thousands of grounders. While Grounder culture demands that Blood Must Have Blood, they are not exactly without reason here.

      While there is a change of heart going on, those people have lived of Grounder blood for many years. So in a way it would seem unjust if they get to just live on without any punishment or whatever the Ark people would do. Hell I could imagine in current court system they would probably get life in prison or the death penalty despite their turn around.

      now that the mountain men have literally no defenses left except for Emmerson this kinda feels like it’s going to be a slaughter instead of a war. Maybe the real conflict will come from Bellamy wanting to protect the innocent and Lexa wanted to kill them to not seem weak in front of her army and Clarke will have to choose a side.

      Many thanks @Toni_watches, as always, for these recaps. Too many delights to mention them all, but THANK YOU for saying basically “NO LABELS” about Clexa. (Also, I’m OK with “equal time” and if Bellamy, Jasper, or etc. are moved to share an intimate moment with another male on screen, then so be it.)

      Jaha: I kind of like him, maybe as much as anyone can, given how little screen time he gets. But I think Murphy said it best with his “what level of crazy?” comment. Lead on, Jaha, lead on.

      Indra: I think Lexa told Indra about the missile and asked her to defuse Octavia. Indra is Lexa’s second, after all. It was arguably justified when the UK leaders did a similar thing during WW2, and while it didn’t make many people happy to learn it happened, almost everybody understood that it certainly helped them win the war.

      Adina Porter (Indra) is indeed awesome. I was enjoying her smaller role on The Newsroom while she was being introduced on The 100 and love how different those characters were.

      I like Jaha too, despite how, um… eccentric he is of late. But I think he’s trying to be a good man, along with the egocentricity of wanting to be a great one.

      That Clarke/Lexa chemistry was suitable for oven mitts. And everything else was just So Good, not a minute wasted, but I could have watched for another hour easily. We didn’t even get to see the 19! Greedy for the next one, yes!

      I usually make 2 different comments one for each of you but I had a big day and I am way to tired for it.

      So I might say I wait for your photo recap every week they are vert funny.
      And the boys dance on the mine field will hunt my night until next episode it was full on weird.

      Okay they were 48 when they got to Mount Weather, Clarke’s gone which make it 47 We saw at least 3 young dead from the Bone marrow treatement. Those that mean we saw all of them ?? no one else died from the 48?? “only” 3 dead from the sky people while the Mountain men have already 20 dead people including 18 killed from the inside and they worry about the outsiders at this rate in a month Jasper & Co could get ride of every one in Mount Weather by them self

      The City of light was pretty but serioulsy Jaha is totaly crazy

      Murphy: What level of crazy is too much for you ??? was spot on and hilarious

      Clarke and Lexa, that’s even crazier, Clarke respect her and sure she can have feelings for her someday but she just killed Finn liked 10 days ago and like she said Lexa is not over her ex either even though she’s been dead for month so playing the kissing part now was just full on stupid on Lexa’s part…

      Wick at least admitted he knew it was too soon for Raven. But the way he said he was all in on it if she really wants it to hapen was cute

      Plus I was really not that into the all kissing/sex part I guess it’s been so long since we saw a couple in the show that it just look weird and misplaced to me

      I loved Cage’s face when Emerson told him they had nothing else to defend them self but the doors… Seriously they based all of their defenses on the acid fog?? okay it’s been pretty handy for decades but they could have found somehting else the rebelion was going to happen at some point.

      How ‘s cool is Maya’s dad seriously??? He even made a little torch for Bellamy to blow things up with and that was actually very helpfull

      I am glad Indra got to tell Octavia she knew what Lexa and Clarke did and she was Okay with it. Octavia was never really on Clarke’s team but she would have blamed her either way . The missile kills 280 people she’s mad, they save everyone but Bellamy is found and killed she is still mad so there was really no winning situation for Clarke to go to.

      How many times will it take for them to figure out that the Mountain Men cut off Bellamy’s radio??

      I am not sure I can succed but I will try not to watch next week episode right away so I can have 2 episodes in a row for the part final the week after (But lets face it I am weak and I really want to see the rest of it)

      Based on the facts of bone marrow transplants, I think it makes sense that there are 44 Arkers left in the mountain. Apparently, every Arker has enough bone marrow to cure up to 8 Mountain Men. Thus, 3 dead/drained Arkers equals about 24 (permanently?) cured Mountain men.

      In reality, if the Mountain Men just took one dose of bone marrow from the teens and allowed them a couple of months to rest, their bone marrow would replenish and they could actually harvest again without killing anyone. The fact that they would rather drain and kill all these innocent kids instead of waiting a few months between rounds of magic shots just proves how evil the (bad) Mountain Men really are.

      Hopefully some of the Arkers will volunteer to donate enough bone marrow to cure all of the good Mountain Men and children when the war is over.

      I hope that Abby will find a better way to extract bone marrow. Dr Tsing version of it was discusting and unsanitary….

      CLEXA. ” (based on Clarke’s reaction)” Nobody should be left wondering after that kissing scene, but if they are, Jason Rothernberg confirmed that Clarke is bisexual. Yay! How about that? The show’s protagonist is bi. I love it!
      Lexa needs to be a main character, am I right? She and Clarke are true loves, I need them to end up together. Glad the writers aren’t fanservicing the Bellarke shippers.

      Every show needs it’s nutjob comdedic relief character: Jaha. He doesn’t evn annoy me anymore, because every word that comes out of his mouth is hilarious! What a gem.

      WICK is my guy. He’s perfect. He and Raven are the cutest ship ever. Make Wick a regular please. Lexa too. How is a character like Jaha a regular, but Lexa is not?

      Indra is amazing. I love how she basically acted like Octavia was whining. Suck it up! Octavia still has a long way to go to undestanding what it means to be a Grounder.

      How great is the drama between Octavia and Clarke? I love it. I’m sad that Octavia has no idea how hard Clarke fought to save her. Octavia, Clarke loves ya!

      lol jaha’s freakout was literally the funniest thing that happened this episode. and that was even before toni pointed out the fact that literally 45% of the characters on the show have defied death by flying to earth in a rickety and hastily crafted spaceship. bruh get in line. you are not special. just craycray.
