The 100 “Blood Must Have Blood, Part 1” Photo Recap – Griffin’s Eleven (2.15)

When I sat down to watch Part 1 of the season finale, I braced myself for the worst. Like many commenters theorized, I believed our brave warrior Lexa would go out in a blaze of glory. I prepared myself for losing her and possibly others like Maya, Maya’s hot dad, the caged Grounder babe, and the Starry Night painting all in a bloody, horribly violent and awesome battle. Never in a million mojitos did I predict that Lexa would take a deal to free her people and leave our beloved band of space heroes behind. Once again The 100 turned in its seat like someone who has already seen the movie you’re watching and said, “oh, you thought that was gonna happen? Well THIS HAPPENED INSTEAD. Suck on that!”

And we did. We sucked on that. Shit is all over the fan, you guys, and there’s only one episode to wipe it off / cover it again with our brains (because our minds will be blown, if history of this show has taught us anything). Does anyone else’s feet hurt from being KEPT ON YOUR TOES so much?!?

Our darling band of misfit space toys are in some serious peril. SO MUCH has been set up for the grand (season) finale. I won’t even be mad if they save some for season 3 (or season 19, which this show will undoubtedly get). Who will survive? How badly will our hearts be crushed? Who is Indra’s new Reaper pal? What does the Mountain King DO with his days in that white room?

Blood Must Have Blood Part 1 not only set up what’s sure to be a catastrophically good season finale, but it also treated us to so many familiar faces! Monroe, Miller’s awesome dad, Jackson, the hot Grounder lady in white underwear. I hadn’t realized I missed these folks until they appeared on my screen and I said, “oh yeah, that guy!”

“Toni, why are you listing all the awesome things about this episode? We know! Just re-cap it already!”

Okay, geez.

The episode began with Bellamy freeing the smoking Grounder chick, among others. I can only assume he stole the keys off one of the many guards he’s brutally murdered. This is our hero, people! We love him for it! Anyway, then the Mountain Prince came on the radio.

Bellamy figured out that everyone is going to turn on his pals, so he ran off to save them and gave the keys to the foxy Grounder. I’m sure that won’t come back to bite him in the ass.

Meanwhile, Cage was getting pissy about not finding The 19 yet.

6

7

Cage picked up a stack of papers and threw them at his minion. PAPER. He didn’t slap him, he didn’t hit him with a computer, he didn’t threaten to lock him up. No, in a fit of rage, Cage threw some PAPER. He doesn’t know what those papers are! What if someone is writing a novel and now he’s mixed up the order of the story? It was such a douchey thing to do! The minion looked so annoyed. I loved everything about this. Cage is such a little gremlin.

After his hissy, Cage sent his guards door to door to search people’s homes and murder them.

8

9

Jasper bravely popped out of his hidey-hole, and the guard SHOT THE NICE COUPLE. Did this couple not remind everyone of their adorable aunt and uncle who want to fit in with the kids so badly they’d go to a Taylor Swift concert and pretend to understand her lyrics? I was very upset when they were brutally murdered. Also, quick question, Mountain Manor has like eighty inhabitants right? There’s no way this guard didn’t grow up knowing these fine folks.

10

11

This all happened before the opening credits!

Back in a war shanty, Clarke was explaining the very elaborate plan to everyone. More importantly, though…

12

Is Clarke’s glove bedazzled??? Is it cold enough for fingerless gloves? Did she join a punk-rock movement? Does she need her fingertips free to work a touchscreen smart phone? Did they raid a Marie Claire? SO MANY QUESTIONS.

13

14

15

16

17

18

Basically there are 5 teams and they’re gonna do a thing with another thing and blow stuff up and draw attention away to do a bait-n-switch so they can rob a casino, I think. Then Lexa was all, “our alliance is the best, the alliance is what made this possible, I’m the smartest for making this alliance, friendship forever.”

Then they all started chanting ‘blood must have blood’ and was chilling and powerful as all hell.

Back at the Manor, Maya’s hot dad took a stand.

19

20

But it was okay! Bellamy came in at the last possible moment and shot the guard. WHY he waited so long is a mystery. Maybe he just likes seeing Maya cry? Who knows. What I DO know is that Miller skillfully killed the other guard like it ain’t no thing, then sassed everyone.

Every second that went by with someone mentioning Monty and him not instantly appearing made me very anxious. Where you at, Monty???

21

22

Right?!? I mean… is it? I forget sometimes.

Indra and Octavia had a nice chat how about Lincoln is the best, but also the worst, and how Indra is going to take her friendship bracelet if he sneezes at her, or something. Then they ran into some Reapers!

23

24

WHO is this mysterious Reaper making Indra show emotion?

25

26

27

28

Lincoln and Miller’s cool dad gave each other a pep talk and it was magic.

Meanwhile, in a suspiciously empty generator room, Raven and Wick were casually setting bombs and working through their relationship problems.

29

30

Then they were busted! A Mountain Minion told on them, so Wick had to bust his face open with a wrench. Not bad for a murder-virgin.

Since the Mountain Prince is a dumb-dumb and ruined everything, he decided to ask his pops for advice. The Mountain King has been sitting in a white room all alone with zero to do for how long now? I like to think he’s writing a musical in his head.

31

32

33

34

35

36

37

38

39

Mind-musical aside, this scene was great. The Mountain King was all, “you’re the worst”, and Cage was like, “yeah, obvs, fix it.” And the Mountain King was reluctantly all, “ugh, fiiiiiiiiine.” We weren’t privy to the plan at the time, but DAMN the Mountain King is smart!

Meanwhile. Clarke and Lexa were patiently waiting for the power to go out so they could blow open the door.

40

41

Oh Lexa. Oh Clarke. Will these two crazy kids ever just be happy?

Because Raven has a magical nerd brain, she figured out how to blow everything up without a fifth bomb. But then a couple of nuckle-heads barged in on them.

42

Because everything Raven does is awesome, they backed up JUST enough not to get melted by the explosion. What a first date, ammiright?

Outside, the power went down, but the cartoonishly large and red “explosion” button wasn’t working! Oh no! This is a job for Miller’s cool dad! Oh no, wait, never mind, they shot him and like, a dozen Grounders.

43

Lincoln used his Bro-rage to shoot the bomb and make it explode. This probably could have been done BEFORE a dozen or so people died to do it “manually”, but whatevs.

Since the shooting had to be violently stopped, Lexa had to scamper off.

44

Bye Lexa! Good luck with all the above-board stuff you’re about to do!

After Maya pointed out the unliklihood she’ll make it to season 3 (no!), they found Monty leaning over a dead body.

45

46

MONTY IS ALIVE. Hello, Monty. I’m sorry you had to watch some murder, but that’s old hat by now, right? Very glad you were not the dead body! He told the squad that the Mountain Minions know about the Grounders, and that the Adventure Squad is not as Ocean’s Eleven as they thought.

Meanwhile, the Grounders did the ol’ heave-ho and opened the door.

47

48

49

This was soul crushing. Lexa made a deal with the Mountain Men to free her people in exchange for a Grounder retreat.

50

51

Uuuuuuggggghhhhh, this was painfully magnificent story telling. All this build-up! A promise of an epic battle, akin to last season’s finale, only to rip it away with a brutally poignant betrayal. The 100 doesn’t recycle storylines, you guys, no matter how awesome battle 2.0 would have been.

Speaking of un-kept promises, Indra gushed to Octavia about what amazing besties they are.

52

53

54

55

Octavia refused to retreat without her brother and Indra disowned her! Haaaaaarsh, you guys.  “Come home with us.” – “I have no home.” I have never seen a a character on The 100 act so emo, and I LOVED IT? Octavia being melodramatic is my new favourite. You still have a brother, girl. Relax.

Speaking of Bellamy, he, Maya and Jasper ran to the blood-sucking-chamber to find a very handsome dad lying dead on the floor. Maya was obviously upset, but so was a certain dream-boat.

56

RIP Maya’s hot dad. May you and Bellamy find each other in the afterlife, on some other show that casts Canadians and Australians.

57

58

Raven and Wick were making relationship progress when they got rudely interrupted AGAIN. Do you think they’ll be thrown in with the rest of the squad-prisoners? I live for reunions, you guys.

59

60

61

Cage dropped in on his dad to thank him for the stellar war-tip, and was all, “we won!”, and the Mountain King was like, “nuh uh, man.” And then the Prince left the door open and the Mountain King looked SO EXHAUSTED. Just let the man write his musical.

Outside, everyone was packing up and telling Clarke that it’s all over like there ISN’T another episode left in the season. I mean, did they not see the Part 1 on the title? Pssshh, glorified extras, the lot of them. Clarke stayed behind, obviously.

62

This shot was amazing. Didn’t it just suck all the hope from your body? Now imagine Octavia all alone in a dark Reaper cave outside a door she can’t open. That’s where we’re at right now. Most of our heroes are trapped in Mount Weather without any escape route in the works, and the Mountain Prince intends to suck them all dry. The 100 is basically living in the pit of despair right now, and it is DELICIOUS.

I simply cannot wait to see how our heroes get themselves out of this pickle, and what NEW pickle will come of it. I just want all the pickles, is what I’m saying. Preferably baking into a potato chip. The 100 delivers the pickles!

SOME STUFF

  • No Jaha this week. Can we assume he drowned?

  • Is Kane with Abby trying to heal people with the power of their sexual tension?

  • “Miller, you okay?” = “Miller, I’ve missed you so much, I hope we’re never parted again, give me a lock of your hair to carry with me always, I love you.”

  • “Today, Wick!” – “I’m moving as fast as I can! Actually, I can go faster.” Dear The 100, please don’t kill Wick. Just don’t, okay?

  • Miller’s cool dad is alive. How long do you think it’ll take for him to hunt down Lincoln so they can shoot some hoops?

  • Are you craving dill pickle chips now? Yeah, me too.

Speaking of Indra’s Reaper buddy, I’ve been thinking about those weird horns and facial oddities that some of the Reapers seem to have. They don’t really look artificial or like they were done with Grounder surgery.
My guess is, either the Reapers grabbed some mutants and dragged them back to Mt. Weather to be Reaperfied, or that Red drug slowly mutates regular Grounders the longer they’re on it.
The mutant into mutant-reaper theory seems simplest, but since no one ever talked about that part of Reaperdom, I’m afraid that it’s just a side-effect of the drug and everyone took it for granted. If that’s the case, then Abby could have some dissatisfied customers on her hands– if the horns and such don’t go away when the Red does.

“‘This is a show for teens’ Right?!? I mean… is it? I forget sometimes.”
Maybe it was, for the first few episodes of Season 1. I think it stopped being just for teens around the time 320 people on the Ark chose to die of suffocation so their children could live.

Great and EPIC review as always!!! I love the rapping and singing!!! Am I a bad person… when little miss “Grounder Commander” (she shall remain unnamed for her betrayal!!! [yes I am a little salty]) admitted to her betrayal and untied that idiot my thought was “uhhh Clarke babe you got a gun, shoot him point blank in the forehead!!!!” I screamed this over and over and over at the TV “Shoot him!! SHOOT HIM SHOOT HIM” — Clarke didn’t freaking listened to me. I was very upset lol

Reading some of the comments, I just realized: a big part of Clarke’s authority over her people (the Arkers) comes from her close relationship to Lexa, who recognized Clarke as the only de facto leader of the Arkers. Yes, Clarke is capable and worthy on her own, but it wasn’t until the Alliance with the Grounders that she started really calling the shots in her own camp.
So the question is, now what? now that the Aliiance is over, do the Arkers continue listening to her and obeying her, or are we having power struggles again in the Arkers’ camp? And if more people learn about the missile in Tondc (Octavia knows, Bellamy will soon know etc.), won’t that make her position even worse?
    Any thoughts?

Toni, you have destroyed this show for me!
I sat down to watch it the other night and lo and behold, In the “Previously…” section there’s Indra charging to war. Don’t play the fool Toni, you know the scene I’m talking about, it’s the “Manners” scene…
And slowly, but oh! so very surely, this insidious laughing fit crept all over me and the next thing I knew I was halfway through the episode, trying to stop myself from laughing like a Jaha person.
How dare you Toni make me laugh while watching my favorite show of drama, death and dilettantes! (what the hell does that mean? I don’t know, but it surely sounds nice). I hate you, I hate you! Will you marry me?
And by the way, some stuff:
    – The only good Jaha, is a dead Jaha!
    – Now I won’t be able to watch the finale because when we next see Kane and Abby I know I will die laughing! (power of sexual tention indeed!)
    – Are “cool dads” and younger men a thing with you? Before, it was Maya’s cool dad (I’m really sorry for your loss) and Bellamy. Now it’s Miller’s cool dad and Lincoln? Well, why not? Whatever makes you get out of bed every morning and tune in for The 100 !
    Cheers Toni, until next week!

Without an army Clark now only has one option which is to shut down the generator and kill all the people in the mountain. That is her best option. Then the Sky people can take Mount Weather fix it up and live there safe from the Grounders because they are obviously no longer allies. After this the Grounder alliance will likely break either because without the Mountain men they no longer have a reason to stay united, or they will rebel because Lexa deprived them of their vengeance. Either way Lexa’s days as the all powerful commander are numbered. In the next season they will probably add another enemy that the now separated Grounders clans can’t defeat without the help of the Sky people and with that create some major drama since working together is kind of hard after the events of the last episode, plus there is a pretty good chance that some grounders will have more faith in Clark than Lexa since Clark defeated the Mountain men while Lexa ran away. We all know that the Grounders believe in strength and vengeance both of which Clark will represent after defeating the Mountain she acted as a grounder, and in that sense Lexa can be viewed as a coward because she did what the Sky people would normally do she negotiated . That would add even more tension between these two and it can also be used as a way of getting rid of Lexa (because the actress has another show), and keeping the Grounders around, without actually killing her so that she can still come back at some point.

Soooo are the Grounders not at all worried about the Mountain Men getting their hands on the rest of the Arkers, sucking out all their bone marrow, immunizing themselves, then using their advanced technology to conquer the ground? Something that would have been totally preventable in Lexa didn’t double-cross Clarke? Pretty positive they should be worried.

    bellarke
    Mar 07, 2015
this is exactly what I was thinking! The alliance with the sky people is a lot more solid and they won’t have any fears of them killing each other. Mountain Men are going to continue treating them like savages. Plus, if Lexa is totally cool with breaking alliances, why didn’t she just wait for her people to come out, then turn on the damn Mountain Men and have the war anyway! Or at least let Lincoln and any other nice grounders stay! What about the reapers that they’re healing? Indra will be so sad! AND WHAT ABOUT BLOOD MUST HAVE BLOOD? Lexa made Clakre kill Finn so that they could have an alliance because he killed 18. And she makes a deal with Emerson after their people killed thousands???

You know what is so funny about the upcoming season finale? We are going to get so, like, angry when we spend time with Jaha and Murphy but their story may as well have been, we are sending them on this journey to set up a potential season 3, and probably that is where we should be paying more attention. I want to say that it was about the time they were creeping across the mine field was likely the time in Season 1 we were introduced to the Mountain Men.
I am worried about the people not in the main cast but who we see regularly. I feel like a show, even one as no holds barred as this one, will only kill one main cast member a season and Finn has fulfilled that quota. So, you know, from our heroes side, I’m concerned about Wick, Maya, Murphy (who knew). I feel like Wick will be the one they will put in danger just because of Raven but Maya, well, I just agree with her assessment. and the show might feel like they desire one semi romantic story line and Clarke isn’t engaging in anything any time soon.

OMG. If, for some reason, I ever stopped watching “The 100” (not gonna happen) I would still read these recaps, because they are everything.
Also, appreciated the symbolism of having Clarke and Bellamy and Octavia all alone in their final shots, but why in the world did Jackson leave Octavia in the reaper den? I didn’t have him down as the worst before but now I’m not so sure.

They were all unsure as to why the retreat was sounded but once they were called back they figured it was for a good reason. Then they gave up just like the rest of them. I’m not defending their decision to leave the entire battle but it makes sense why they left the cave.

The reason Lexa allowed 200 people to die was so all the other clan leaders would also die. Leaving her as the only rightful heir to all the united grounders. She is a politician.

    Maya’s dad! NOOOOOOO……
LEXA THO’. DAMN IT GURL. I mean I get it, like, she did right by her people. She’s doing the leader thing. BUT HOW WILL YOU EVER GET INTO CLARKE’S PANTS NOW??? Remember when Clarke felt betrayed by Miles and she grudged him all the way up til the day right before he got offed?!?! HE NEVER MADE IT INTO CLARKE’S PANTS. But godddd I love this show. I love how every character has their own motivations. Their own priorities. Like of course Lexa would take the deal.
There were some cool Clarke scenes this ep though. THe ending scene was awesome, plus I loved when Lexa asked what Clarke wanted to do after the war and she’s just like “lol idk” it just speaks volumes about her character. I really really REALLY hope they’re building up to a huge Clarke-kickin-ass #TeamClarke finale. I miss Action Clarke lol.

No shame in that! I’m honestly only going to watch it so I can be invested… in her characters death. If she doesn’t die next week (which I mean c’mon it’s one hour for Clarke to break into Mt Weather and get sh!t done and then what? Take control and throw a missile at Lexa? I’d be willing to bet this episode was her temporary sendoff) then that is a sweet way the writers can explain her a sense and that potentially explosive storyline is still available for a later date. C’mon who among us (regardless of romantic potential) wouldn’t want to see an entire season of those two having to work together with this newfound tension and distrust? That’s good tv!

Here is the way I would write the finale:
Clarke, standing forlornly in front of the door, refuses to except that it’s over. She has a look of glazed, hypnotic determination in her eyes, then she walks away, we don’t know to where.
Meantime: Octavia has succumbed to her Emo-ness and gets captured by some Mountain men. Raven, Wick, Bellamy, Monty, Jasper and some select adults like Abbie and Kane have all been rounded up and are in the Marrow chamber, chained up and about to be sucked.
Kage is about to push the button to suck Monty, but just then they hear a loud noise, a rumble from the distance. It gets closer and closer, and Kage tells his henchman buddy to go see what it is. Just as he walks towards the door, it BURSTS OPEN and in charges CLARKE and she is RIDING ON TOP OF THE GORILLA!!! The Gorilla already has dead mountain guards in it’s mighty clutches, but casts them aside and grabs Kage’s henchman, and BEATS KAGE TO DEATH WITH HIM!!
Clarke dismounts the noble, magnificent ape and frees everyone. Bellamy, so happy to see Clarke, has tears in his eyes and says, “How did you harness the power of a gorilla!? And also, since when are there gorillas !?”
Clarke replies, “oh my dear Bellamy..you have been in here too long!-Jasper, please open that door over there”
Jasper opens a door to a secret room and Clarke goes inside, in the room is a baby gorilla! The gorilla’s child! the mountain men had captured it, and now it can be returned to it’s family. Cradling the baby, the elder gorilla smiles at Clarke and our heroes and then walks off into the distance.
hen Clarke, turns to Bellamy, and says, “It turns out Lexa was wrong, sometimes love is the answer” Then an injured Mountain King, dying, says he agrees, and asks for his bone marrow to be transferred to Maya. Maya and Jasper kiss, Wick and Raven kiss, Abby and Kane kiss, Lincoln comes in with Millers dad, and Miller and his father reunite, then Lincoln kisses Octavia. Monty and Harper kiss, and finally, Clarke and Bellamy kiss. And an 80’s power ballad kicks in as the credits roll.
Then in a post credits sequence, it is revealed that Jaha has eaten the other two people on the boat, and only he and Creepster are left. They are shrouded in fog, and a maddened Jaha, screaming “I’m the GOD! I’M THE GOD!” is about to eat Creepster. Suddenly, a ninja star is thrust into his head, and he dies. We see the star had been thrown by a familiar Ninja Turtle hand, and as the fog clears, we see the city of light!! And Creepster is welcomed into this happy paradise by his bodacious, turtle lady love. THE END

I had completely forgotten about Harper, and the show seems to have forgotten about her as well (unless Imissed something from recent episodes). So I’m not expecting any rekindling of that romance (unless Maya dies, obviously). As for Maya’s life expectancy, you could be right (about her having lost her dad and being developed throughout the season), but then again this show made a “name” for itself by disregarding norms and unexpectedly killing off many of its heroes. Now, this season, with the exception of Finn and a couple of secondary characters, has been a little light on the body count. They might have to balance the scales in the finale. And no, Maya doesn’t look attractive to me, but there’s no accounting for taste…

    nicholaskmoose
    Mar 12, 2015
Well, I was completely wrong about the Maya thing, but at least two things from my story sort of happened! Monty hugged Harper ( they didn’t kiss, but whatever, close enough) and Miller and his dad reunited!
When Kage was trying to escape, I was SO hoping the gorilla was gonna pounce on him! But Lincoln got him first. My prediction about Jaha eating the other two kids on the boat ALMOST happened! He didn’t eat them but he DID feed them to something!!

Interesting prediction about Maya and the Mt. King. I’ve already taken her measurements for a nice pinewood coffin. It’s not that I don’t like her, but I can’t see her as anything else but baggage for Jasper when they’re on the outside. Then again, Jasper might be fatally wounded in the finale and give her his bone marrow (no wishful thinking here, I like Jasper). Crazy show.

I’m not really a Maya fan either, but they just killed her father, and have spent most of the season developing her as a character, so, though she may very well be killed at some point, I don’t think they will do it now. Personally I think Harper is much cuter. Jasper fucked up! How is Maya not considered “low hanging fruit”?

Lexi’s’s leadership is both great, and horrible beyond words.
    * She let Clark kill Fin, & did nothing.
If I was a grounder, i’d be pissed we didn’t get our justice.
    * She killed her 2nd.
I get it, but if she let Clark get away w it 1 day earlier, why not him too?
    * She let her ppl die to save herself
They were the main targets, but she could’ve warned the other leaders.
    * She kissed Clark
What war-harden leader tries to start a relationship 1 day before war?!
    * She betrayed the Sky People
    * She stopped a war to save 150+ of her own ppl, when the night before 200+ of her own people didn’t matter! Instead of ending the war that night, it will continue for years.

You’re right. Everyone in this show rave about how great a Commander Lexa is. But. truly, from the Grounder perspective she has gone from one bad decision to the next. Taken isolated, they may look like reasonable choices at a given time, but taken all together they paint a picture of a ineffective leader that’s guided by her sentiments more than she would like to admit…

This episode was a roller coaster of emotions if ever I’ve seen one. Lexa’s betrayal of Clarke hit me hard, but I feel that’s the decision that any leader would make, especially one as logically oriented as Lexa. As she said, she made this decision with her head, not her heart. Of course she doesn’t want Clarke’s people to die, but she cannot ask her own to go to war when they have a chance at ending their years and years of conflict with the mountain men without death.
The decision does still seem a bit strange though. The grounders are all about revenge, an eye for an eye. They were ready to raid and kill all of the sky people because of Finn’s massacring of the village, so why would Lexa have them retreat rather than taking vengence for fifty years of systematic torture and blooding of her people? “Blood must have blood”, but rather that going on and fighting a war she surely would have won, (not without death on her side as well, but still) she calls for a retreat. It seems out of step with grounder traditions.
Basically I still think anything can happen. Lots of things have to be tied up in the last episode.

    TheExpectedNegro
    Mar 06, 2015
‘Surely would have won’. That is a big assumption and I think a lot of people are forgetting that the main purpose of this mission was getting their people out of mt weather. It wasn’t supposed to be revenge. As Clarke and Lexa both said, it was a ‘Rescue mission’ for their people. if anything lexa succeeded at the expense of Clarke’s failure but as a leader she used her ”head rather than her heart.’

    clarkeschindimple
    Mar 06, 2015
I think that’s in line with Lexa’s character though. Although her people may be, she’s not an especially vengeful person, but rather, extremely pragmatic. Kane and Mountain King have said too, that’s she’s different from other grounders. Of course she’d choose getting back her people with zero bloodshed over an alliance that was only formed out of a mutual enemy.

    gnomeless
    Mar 06, 2015
Plus, she was always honest and upfront with her leadership dogma. She repeatedly stated that she makes logical decisions, not emotional ones….. For some reason, we all just assumed bc we loved our precocious teens, that they would be the exception to this rule. And simply bc she is attracted to Clarke, which somehow translates into undying love, that she would always choose Clarke and never betray her. These may have been unreasonable assumptions, but that doesn’t mean I don’t feel betrayed Lexa. Js.

    UnholyAngelGirl
    Mar 06, 2015
A pragmatic decision would have been to take out the mountain men once and for all.
Lexa has put her faith in a bunch of people who had no problem murdering her people for nearly 100 years. That kept the grounders under control with acid fog and the likes (keep in mind thats quite a feat for a group of a few hundred mountain men compared to the vast armies of grounders). And you heard them, that was their one chance to get past the door.
With the mountain men gone, her people would have control – not the mountain men. Its incredibly short sighted for any leader – let alone one who has a proven background in looking at the bigger picture.

    dazednconfuuzed
    Mar 06, 2015
I can see all you guys’ points, but I’m with you Unholyangelgirl… What Lexa did was not just a betrayal of the Sky ppl, but of her own people and their honor. At least from everything we’ve been taught about Grounder lifestyle and logic.

    gnomeless
    Mar 06, 2015
I’m not saying she made the right decision, even if she didn’t use emotion to make it. I’m just saying that I, and likely other viewers, were unconsciously counting on emotional bonds to solidify the ark/grounder alliance. But what about the devil you know? As was previously mentioned, how strong was the ark/grounder alliance really? They were previously warring and only united against a common enemy. When the MM are no longer reliant on grounder blood, they become more and less of a threat in equal measure. Yes, they don’t need the blood but they are also not restricted to the mountain, which also likely constrained their numbers…no more. Whereas the ark folk were threatening when it was just a bunch of kids, like 10 guns and a tin can hut. Add to that the capibilities they shared after the alliance. Their technology and ingenuity is powerful and their numbers aren’t horrible either…not grounder numbers but not bad. Food for thought.

Does anyone else feel like, aside from the people currently locked up or standing in front of locked doors, the Sky People make the worst soldiers/guards/helpful people? Like they just left their commander standing all by herself unprotected outside of a place full of people who want her dead and Octavia standing in a dark cave full of reapers. They do realize that they left their leader and main soldier unprotected, right? They’re already seriously short on people remotely clever/brave and instead staying with the two last/very important ones or even trying to reason or argue with them for more than 5 seconds, they’re like, “Eh, what’s the worst that could happen?”
The entire Grounder army is prepared to sacrifice themselves for Lexa, but the Sky People army can’t even leave a couple of guards for Clarke? Or make sure she at least has a gun? At least give her a flashlight or a warmer coat. Something! If something happens to Clarke or Octavia there’s only Kane and Miller’s dad left (and power crazy Abby) and neither of them have been on the ground long enough to know how to survive like Clarke and Octavia or have the Grounders’ respect or even know any words in the Grounder’s language or are anywhere near Raven and Wick’s intelligence level. I mean that was the fastest, “Well, we tried” ever.

    Mar 07, 2015
Actually, based on the spoiler plot and released promo video for next week, BOTH Kane and Abbey were picked up– aka kidnapped — by the Mtn Men in the party they were leading to meet up with Clarke.
So with the exception of Octavia, Clarke, Munroe, that Doctor/medical guy who is Abbey’s friend and some insignificant extras, ALL of the main cast AND regulars (aka Wick & Raven) are now officially trapped on the secured and radiation free zone of level 5. In shackles and chains along the walls. In the same room as Cage and his Nazi henchmen. Who by the way, were in process of extracting the Sky ppl bone marrow in his little dungeon of horrors. The only exception to this is Bellamy, Monty and Jasper who are still on the loose inside Mt. Weather. But the question is for how much longer as they’re clearly running out of time.
Then there is Team Crazytown Jaha whose arc JR has repeatedly said will have a significant impact on the upcoming ep for next week. Still baffled how this will all play out. And especially intrigued since the people? society? who programmed that pre war drone are as technically advanced as the Mtn. Men and Sky ppl. Problem is even if Jaha finds a way to charge in on a white horse in shining armor and save the day, how the hell is he going to accomplish this being several light years and a wormhole away across an ocean???
All of which makes for a cliff hanging seasonal ending.

So, they left two out of four of the only capable people
who haven’t been captured and the only two they have left who know the ground and are respected by the Grounders in dangerous enemy territory. While out of the other two people, neither have much ground experience and Miller Sr. is injured and Jackson is only a medical assistant with no leadership experience.

I think Miller’s dad spontaneously shimmered into being when a solar flare interrupted one of Fred Armisen’s rare and early Obama impressions on SNL. And I love that he and Lincoln are bros now.

Then they all started chanting ‘blood must have blood’ in Groundarian and it was chilling and powerful as all hell.
My arms went all goosebumpy when Clarke joined the chant!

“We’ll meet again”, she says. Lexa seems to assume that Clarke will see it her way after she sleeps on it. Does she really believe they’re just alike or is that wishful thinking from the heart she thinks she doesn’t have anymore? Clarke is going to make their next meeting as memorable as this one, count on it.

They’ll get to Jaha and Creepster in part 2 no doubt. I’m glad they focused on the siege in this one instead of breaking up the pace and tension.

The mind-musical made me love Dante more somehow, and you as well. Excellent work, thank you! Looking forward to next week.

Questions – why was Monroe drilling the door whilst being watched by lots of grown ups? Was she the only one with that skill?! Why have the grounders not figured out better shields? How did Lexa have time to make any deals? How cruel is is to give your bae matching fingerless sparkly gloves and then just leave? Another Monroe question, why didn’t she stay with Clarke, huh? In the last battle she was hiding with Sterling in the woods and now she’s all yeah, nah. Time for her redshirt status to be confirmed with violent death!

Why have the grounders not figured out better shields?
To be fair, the shields are probably as good as they can make them and still be portable, given the available tech. And there’s not a whole lot that will stand up to the kind of intense armor-piercing nonsense the mountain men were throwing at them. Shields are consumables, they sustain at least a little damage as they deflect. Normally the grounders would be getting out of dodge (for which the shields would be adequate) and not doggedly creeping further into the line of fire. I say all this having zero real knowledge expertise in warfare, but I was impressed they got as far as they did in their little roman turtle formation.

I think the MM plan was to lure troops up to the ridge, and assume that one of the leaders (Clarke or Lexa) would be with them and available to strike a deal. Maybe they specifically wanted to make the deal with the grounders, as Dante probably knew Clarke wouldn’t be in for betrayal and that the grounders would be more ‘pragmatic’. But they might have had a contingency plan in case the fighters sent to the ridge were mostly skyfighters. And we don’t know what happened when Lexa and her gang got up there. Maybe they were captured before the deal was offered. All that was bugging me too…

Ha! Roman turtle. Got a good chuckle from that.
The MM were counting on Lexa coming up I think. Bc she is very pragmatic and would be willing to deal. Plus they need the sky people to achieve a lasting cure. So no deals with them…tho there is an eff ton of folks at Camp Jaha, a nicely worded request to the effect of “we can end all this madness if every sky person volunteers for one non-lethal bone marrow donation” wouldn’t go amiss.

Don’t rag on Jaha, imagining he and the Beautiful Creepster, their hopeful faces pursuing adventure is my happy place at the moment. Because nothing else on this show is okay.

Also: On a scale of Murphy-apathy to Jaha-intensity, where will Kane sit when he finds out about this? Where will any of the sky people sit? I’d consider the alliance-with-the-people-who-make-bombs-and-were-determined-enough-to-survive-that-they-blew-themselves-out-of-the-sky-and-can-fix-reapers-plus-contain-valuable-medical-technology over. That alliance is over and it’s a bad move. Despite their initial fear on the ground Arker’s did run and are a part of quite a ruthless society, and I’m ready for some backlash.

This has been worrying me no end. Now that the mountain has a permanent solution bound and gagged in their pantry, they have no need to exploit grounders for treatments anymore. And the mountain might well have offered or implied that they would be willing to continue the foul new alliance by providing the kind of help the grounders were receiving from the arkers (probably with the pretense of wanting to make amends for their prior sins–{v o m i t}). If they help the arkers again it’s going to have to come from the fraternity that grew out of their recent cooperation (cue violins, so the grounders can shoot them full of arrows). Otherwise, the arkers can’t afford to fight on two fronts right now. Best case scenario–at the moment, knowing what the show has explicitly given us–is hoping that the grounders leave them alone to deal with the mountain and not add to their problems. Which is sad because I’d like to see some payback too.

But the show always has another card up its sleeve, and like others have said here The 100 keeps us guessing more than any other while still maintaining solid story integrity, so all we can do is live through this with the characters. Painful and brilliant. I dread and crave the next episode. Maybe Indra’s favorite reaper will have a problematic detox and she’ll swallow her pride to ask Olivia for help. Maybe Lexa had a secret plan. Maybe Maya’s cute dad is really living in the country with a nice family who lets him roam free and chase rabbits.

Yes, look kindly on Jaha and Creepster because there might be a whole other faction to consider after this tragedy of failed alliances, and it might be a boon to our heroes.

He’s a character that’s a lot stronger than people give him credit for. Considering about all of the first 100 kids and how they’ve changed since landing on the ground, how dark some of them have become, Murphy is remarkable. He remains relatively unchanged, and if altered a little bit, it’s for the better.

Part of that is largely due to his in-attachment to other characters, he’s never been compelled to make the sacrifices, and therefore suffer, that the other kids have. But still he’s seen some shit and yet retains his snarky cynicism. Having the character become proactive and hopeful in this new storyline just makes us realise he does have a heart, he just hides it because he doesn’t have reason to trust many people.

Okay, wasn’t expecting to do an in-depth character analysis there. Conclusion: The 100 makes us think, and is great.

Are you using Google Chrome? Because it usually works compared to when I’m using Firefox.

Awww, poor Clarke. Lexa invites to meet the parents and ten seconds later it’s all, “Sorry! Grounders before Pounders!” That scene was both unexpected and brutal to watch.

I also appreciate that Wick cut his hair between episodes. Although, he can grow it to his knees if it means he’ll stay

I don’t know… But Raven didn’t really need him to build the bombs maybe he went then…. He is the only one in the show who got to cut his hair … But the women (some of them like Octavia and Raven , and Monroe) went to the Grounders hair dresser to get braids
Or maybe it was just hair production. They were all up

“Octavia being melodramatic is my new favourite. Like, you still have a brother, Octavia. Relax.”Octavia being melodramatic is my new favourite. Like, you still have a brother, Octavia. Relax.”

LOL true. I felt bad for her but she does have a home at Camp Jaha. Jackson even said to her “come home” You’d think her home would be wherever those she loves are. Bellamy and Lincoln. I guess not? Is she going to lvie out in the woods by herself instead of staying at the camp where she’s welcome?

The Ark people seem to forget that all they’ve ever been to Octavia are the people who locked her under the floor for 15 years. The Grounders have been nicer to her than they ever were. It’s no wonder she feels like she doesn’t fit anywhere except with Bellamy.

It was written given he came out of nowhere without development, honestly I don’t really care given I’m a straight male in his 20s but still, poor Maya.

      – No Jaha this week. Can we assume he drowned?

Watch your tongue please!!! I don’t like crazy Jaha, but if he drowned Murphy drowned too (it was a very small boat)

      — Is Kane with Abby trying to heal people with the power of their sexual tension?

When Miller’s dad came up with the bomb I was waiting for Kane to show but I remmebered he was injured in TronDC and he is not one of the 100 so he can heal in an magical amount of time

      — “Miller, you okay?” = “Miller, I’ve missed you so much, I hope we’re never parted again, give me a lock of your hair to carry with me always, I love you.”

I loved that” Miller, you’re Okay” joke. Not yours theirs I mean Is Bellamy really asking if he is okay just because he just killed someone?? It was not the first time since they landed on Earth.
As Raven said “Welcome to Earth” killing someone is like a right of passage.

      — “Today, Wick!” – “I’m moving as fast as I can! Actually, I can go faster.” Dear The 100, please don’t kill Wick. Just don’t, okay?

I loved the scenes with Raven and Wick they managed to stay cute in the face of Blowing things up… Good job!!

      — Miller’s cool dad is alive. How long do you think it’ll take for him to hunt down Lincoln so they can shoot some hoops?

I really fear for Lincoln’s life. He disobeyed a direct order from Lexa and in the past that did not end well

I do understand why the grounders left but why did the Ark people left??

Why are they always abandonning those kids??

On one hand The Mountain Men are killing each other to get to their bone marrow so they can save 300 people of their own
On the other hand, the Ark People are roughly 200 but they won’t stay and fight to get 47 of them back (44 + Bellamy, Raven and Wick). By my count they only send like 10 people to the kids rescue.

Maybe now that Raven and Wick, their only 2 techs (apparently) are prisoners they would go to war.

I get the impression that Dante is trying to manipulate his son. It was hilarious when Cage was all “they have a great commender she is leading them and they are going to kill us all ” and Dante was like “no, this is all Clarke”

He doesn’t know the half of what his son’s knows and yet he gets a better picture of what’s going on outside of the walls.

this image of Clarke standing all alone infront of the giant door is scary

SO we are back on adventure squad doing everything by them self.
      They need a Hugg

And they need to not go back to living with the people of the Ark they were better off alone in the woods

*slow clap* amazing as usual. Thank you for your recap. I am a little disappointed you didn’t take a crack at the fact they had tiny Monroe working the drill. I love how the kids have some equal footing, but that still felt weird.
